MotorLand Aragón once again became Marc Marquez territory on Sunday as the Ducati rider completed a perfect weekend with a commanding victory in front of his home crowd. After dominating Saturday’s sprint, the Spaniard backed it up with another clinical performance in the main race, overcoming an early scare before pulling away from the field to claim his fourth victory of the season and move to within just 19 points of championship leader Jorge Martin.
The opening laps were anything but straightforward. Despite starting from the front row, Marquez suffered a problem with his launch control system and briefly lost ground to Marco Bezzecchi and Pedro Acosta as the field charged towards Turn 1. However, the eight-time world champion wasted no time recovering, slicing back through the leading group with a series of decisive overtakes before reclaiming the lead within the first few laps. Once in clean air, he immediately began setting a relentless pace that no one else could match.
Pedro Acosta emerged as Marquez’s closest challenger and produced one of his strongest rides of the season. The KTM rider matched the Ducati’s pace during the middle phase of the race and remained within striking distance for several laps, but every time the gap threatened to close, Marquez found another level. In the closing stages, the Spaniard gradually stretched his advantage to secure a comfortable victory, while Acosta settled for an impressive second place. Marco Bezzecchi completed the podium after another competitive weekend for Aprilia.
Behind the podium, Alex Marquez finished fourth after a consistent but lonely race, while championship leader Jorge Martin crossed the line in fifth. Although Martin was unable to fight for victory, the Aprilia rider limited the damage by collecting valuable points, ensuring he retained the lead in the standings despite Marquez’s perfect weekend. Further back, Raul Fernandez and Fermin Aldeguer battled fiercely inside the top ten, while Fabio Di Giannantonio recovered after a difficult start to salvage important championship points.
The atmosphere around MotorLand was electric throughout the afternoon, with thousands of Spanish fans cheering every Marquez overtake. After his dominant sprint performance on Saturday, expectations were sky-high, and the Ducati rider delivered exactly what the home crowd had hoped for. His pace around one of his favourite circuits once again proved untouchable, reinforcing his reputation as the undisputed master of Aragón.
As the chequered flag fell, Marquez celebrated a flawless weekend that could prove pivotal in the championship battle. Pole may have escaped him on Saturday, but he responded by winning both races with authority, cutting Martin’s championship advantage to just 19 points with nine rounds still remaining. Momentum has clearly shifted towards the Spaniard, and after another unforgettable performance at MotorLand, the fight for the 2026 title is more alive than ever.
