MiniDrivers – 2026 Singapore – Race

Max Verstappen delivered a commanding performance at Marina Bay on Sunday, claiming victory in Singapore after controlling the race from pole position. The Red Bull driver converted his qualifying advantage into a crucial win, holding off Charles Leclerc and Kimi Antonelli in an event where tyre management, strategy and precision proved decisive. After also winning Saturday’s Sprint, Verstappen completed a remarkable weekend and confirmed that Red Bull’s recent resurgence is no coincidence.

The Dutchman made a clean start and immediately established control at the front, refusing to give Ferrari an opportunity to launch an attack. Leclerc tried to remain within striking distance, but Verstappen managed his tyres brilliantly around the demanding street circuit, gradually building a comfortable advantage. Unlike Saturday’s rain-affected Sprint, Sunday’s race took place under more stable conditions, allowing strategy and long-run pace to become the defining factors. Verstappen remained composed throughout, avoiding the mistakes that have proved so costly for several of his rivals this season.

Behind the leader, Ferrari faced a complicated strategic afternoon. Leclerc delivered a strong performance to secure second place, but Lewis Hamilton endured another frustrating race after initially showing promising pace. Ferrari’s pit-stop decisions became a major talking point, with the team prioritising Leclerc during key moments and leaving Hamilton on older tyres for an extended stint. The seven-time world champion eventually lost ground as his grip deteriorated, finishing sixth despite his earlier hopes of fighting for the podium.

Kimi Antonelli once again demonstrated why he has become the man to beat in the championship. The Mercedes driver secured third place after negotiating a difficult race that included technical concerns, collecting another valuable podium finish. His result strengthened his position at the top of the standings and brought him another step closer to the world title. With the season entering its decisive phase, Antonelli continues to combine consistency with the speed required to challenge the established stars.

The race also featured strategic twists and a Virtual Safety Car period that reshuffled several positions. George Russell, forced to start from the back after his recent power-unit problems, produced an impressive recovery to finish ninth. Meanwhile, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris fought hard to gain positions, although neither could seriously challenge Verstappen for victory. Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz endured difficult afternoons, finishing sixteenth and fourteenth respectively, while Nico Hülkenberg enjoyed a strong result for Audi.

For Verstappen, this victory represents a significant turning point in his campaign. After winning in Malaysia last weekend, the Dutchman has now secured another consecutive victory, finally conquering a circuit that had previously eluded him. Red Bull’s improved performance has transformed the outlook for the closing stages of the season, while Antonelli’s podium keeps the championship leader firmly in control of his destiny. Singapore may not have produced a dramatic final-lap battle, but Verstappen’s flawless execution sent a clear message to his rivals: he is back to winning ways, and Red Bull will not make the championship fight easy.
