Marco Bezzecchi delivered a superb performance to win the Indonesian MotoGP race at Mandalika on Sunday, October 11, securing another major victory for Aprilia after an intense battle at the front. The Italian crossed the finish line ahead of teammate Jorge Martín and Trackhouse rider Raúl Fernández, completing a fantastic day for Aprilia, which placed four bikes in the top four. Meanwhile, Marc Márquez could only manage sixth place after winning Saturday’s Sprint, allowing Martín to reclaim the championship lead.

The race began without the first-corner chaos that had defined Saturday’s Sprint, although the action quickly intensified. Raúl Fernández made an excellent start from the front and established himself as an early leader, demonstrating the impressive pace that had made Aprilia so competitive throughout the weekend. Behind him, Bezzecchi and Martín remained firmly in contention, while Márquez immediately found himself facing a much tougher challenge than he had experienced the previous day.
Martín wasted little time in making his intentions clear. After overtaking Fabio Di Giannantonio, the Aprilia rider caught Márquez and passed his championship rival on the third lap. The move proved particularly important in the context of the title fight, as Martín had arrived in Indonesia trailing Márquez following Saturday’s Sprint. With the Ducati rider struggling to match the pace of the Aprilias, Martín began building a race that could potentially restore his position at the top of the standings.
At the front, however, Bezzecchi gradually emerged as the man to beat. Fernández initially looked capable of controlling the race, but the Italian maintained the pressure and eventually made his decisive move on lap 19. Once ahead, Bezzecchi managed his advantage brilliantly and held on to claim victory, while Fernández secured second place. Martín completed the podium in third, giving Aprilia an outstanding one-two-three finish and confirming the manufacturer’s exceptional form at Mandalika. Ai Ogura made it four Aprilias in the top four after overtaking Pedro Acosta in the closing stages.

For Márquez, Sunday proved considerably more difficult. After his dramatic Sprint victory, the Ducati rider was unable to maintain the same level of competitiveness over the longer distance. He was overtaken by both Acosta and Ogura before finishing sixth, collecting valuable points but losing the championship advantage he had gained the previous day. Acosta finished fifth, while Álex Márquez took seventh ahead of Di Giannantonio, Fabio Quartararo and Enea Bastianini.
The biggest winner of the weekend was therefore Bezzecchi, whose victory reinforced Aprilia’s growing threat to Ducati. But the championship implications were just as significant: Martín’s third-place finish allowed him to move back ahead of Márquez, taking a two-point lead in the riders’ standings. After a weekend of dramatic twists, the title battle remains incredibly tight, and Mandalika has once again demonstrated that a single race can completely change the momentum of the championship.
