The 2025 season’s final sprint unfolded under the bright lights at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, and Álex Márquez wasn’t about to let the curtain fall without making a statement. Starting second on the grid, he seized the moment early, grabbed the holeshot, and set the pace from the very first corner.
Right after the start, Pedro Acosta showed his usual aggression, leaping from P5 into a strong second place by Turn 2. Meanwhile, pole-sitter Marco Bezzecchi stumbled off the line, immediately losing ground to rival riders as Márquez kicked into another gear.
On lap 2, drama struck for Honda: Joan Mir lost the front in Turn 2 and collected his teammate Luca Marini, ending both their sprints prematurely. At the same time, Jack Miller and Fermin Aldeguer touched, pushing Aldeguer wide and setting Miller up for a later penalty.
By the midpoint of the 13-lap dash, Márquez had built a solid gap of around 1.4 seconds over Acosta, expertly managing his rhythm and holding off the charging KTM. Behind them, a fierce fight for the final podium spot unfolded: Fabio Di Giannantonio and Raúl Fernández swapped places lap after lap in a tense battle.
As they entered the last laps, Márquez stayed unshakeable at the front. Acosta pushed hard but made a small mistake, allowing Márquez to stretch his lead. Di Giannantonio finally made his move for third on the penultimate lap, overtaking Fernández and holding on to the finish.
When the chequered flag fell, it was Márquez celebrating: a clean, authoritative sprint win by +1.149 seconds over Acosta, with Di Giannantonio in third. The result underlined his consistency and skill in the sprint format, and marked his third sprint victory of the season.
