MotoGP – 2025 Malaysian GP – Sprint Race

Francesco Bagnaia delivered a dominant performance, starting from pole and leading from the first corner to secure his second sprint victory of the 2025 season. He crossed the line with a 2.259-second advantage, reaffirming his strong pace at Sepang and putting himself back into contention for the championship’s minor places.

Álex Márquez came home in second place—and in doing so officially sealed his position as runner-up in the overall 2025 championship standings, behind his brother Marc Márquez. His steady ride today meant the “silver medal” spot is locked in, giving Gresini Ducati a strong result in the title fight.

Fermín Aldeguer completed the podium in third place, rounding off an impressive ride from the rookie who has already secured the Rookie of the Year award for 2025. Although his result is under investigation for a tyre-pressure infringement, his performance today ensures his rookie status remains celebrated.

The result reshuffles the minor championship standings: Bagnaia overtook Marco Bezzecchi for third place in the championship by the narrowest of margins (just one point), after Bezzecchi finished seventh in the sprint. Meanwhile, the dominant presence of Bagnaia at Sepang confirms Ducati’s form resurgence as the season heads into its final rounds.
