Formula E – Montreal ePrix – Qualifying

The final qualifying of the Formula E season is here and the championship is on fire after having Buemi disqualified after the first race of Montreal yesterday. Lucas Di Grassi has everything in favor to become champion but as you have seen yesterday, everything can change.

The first group of qualifying has Engel, Carroll, Lopez, Duval and Buemi. Just as yesterday, the drivers took their time to start their lap due the dust on the track. Buemi made a small mistake on his lap, losing time. The best time was for Lopez, Duval, Buemi, Engel and Carroll.

Time for the second group with Dillmann, Vergne, Rosenqvist, D’Ambrosio and Evans. Evans lost the control of his car but could manage to continue only losing a few tenths. Rosenqvist was the fastest driver, taking the first position, with Vergne Dillman and D’Ambrosio finishing 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Lopez closed the top 5.

Third round of qualifying with Turvey, Frijns, Piquet, Da Costa and Sarrazin. Something strange happened with the group 3 because the drivers were making really slow times, with Da Costa making the 8th best time and Turvey the slowest time of the day. Sarrazin could manage to reach the 4th best time, Frijns the 10th and Piquet could improve Sarrazin’s time being 4th. Turvey tried to improve, but he was only 12th. The top 5 now it was Rosenqvist, Vergne, Dillmann, Piquet and Sarrazin.

Final round of the qualifying with Heidfeld, Bird, Prost, Di Grassi and Abt. Di Grassi has everything in favor right now with the super pole fight, even with a bad qualifying, with Buemi on 9th position. Prost took the 3rd best time but Di Grassi came right behind him taking that position. Abt also improved Prost’s time with the 4th time, but Bird arrived and took the provisional pole. Heidfeld also made a great good lap and finished 4th. The top 5 for the super pole was Bird, Rosenqvist, Vergne, Heidfeld and Di Grassi.

Lucas Di Grassi was the first man on making his lap finishing the lap with a time of 1:23.557. Nick Heidfeld was the second driver to fight for the super pole, improving Di Grassi’s time with a lap time of 1:23.041. Vergne was for now the fastest man on track with a time of 1:22.769. Time now for the other Mahindra, Felix Rosenqvist who made a magical lap with a time of 1:22.344. Time now for Sam Bird who was one of the fastest drivers on the track, but his time was only 1:22.559, giving him the 2nd position.

Pole position for Felix Rosenqvist for the final round of the championship ahead of Sam Bird and Jean Eric Vergne. The top 10 was completed with Heidfeld, Di Grassi, Abt, Prost (who will held a 20 position grid penalty for changing his battery), Dillmann, Piquet and D’Ambrosio.

Di Grassi has everything in favor to become champion of the season 3 of the FIA Formula E championship, but you know that you can’t have anything for sure in racing. In 3h we’ll enjoy the race and everything can happen. Stay tuned for more updates.
