Alex Lynn started on pole on his first ever Formula E race but Daniel Abt overtook him without problems before reaching the first turn of the track. We could hear a lot of crashes during the first lap of the race, being the Renault eDams drivers and Mitch Evans the ones who had the worst part, being last the blue guys and Mitch Evans breaking his rear suspension.

D’Ambrosio who was 6th started to lose positions with Sarrazin and Piquet. When he tried to recover the position, he collided with the Brazilian and lost position with Di Grassi making the Faraday Future driver to go to boxes with the front wing and a few parts of the car broken.

In front Bird overtook Lynn and started to chase Abt for the victory, making the British driver an attempt of overtake, but he touched the rear of the red and yellow car, but before going to boxes, he overtook him. Just on that moment, Lynn lost positions with Heidfeld and Vergne, starting a battle the last two for the podium. Di Grassi also overtook Lynn who has some serious battery problems and had to pit before anyone. After that, the pitstop madness started.

After the pitstop we saw how Sarrazin and Rosenqvist made an awesome comeback, overtaking 7 and 12 cars, but this wouldn’t be over for them because they want more. On the other hand, Lynn started to lose positions after being overtaken by Di Grassi and had to retire.

Di Grassi started to chase Rosenqvist, but Heidfeld started to chase the Brazilian. The Audi driver had to think if he should attack or defend, so he decided to attack the Mahindra in front of him, who made a mistake, hitting the wall and losing the rear wing of his car.

On the final laps the other Mahindra car had a problem when his rear right tire lost the nut, causing the safety car, which could give us an exciting final lap, with Vergne and Abt with the fanboost and really close to Bird… But things weren’t as we thought… The Techeetah team didn’t said anything to Vergne who didn’t use the fanboost, and Abt made a mistake an had to retire on the final lap of the race.

Sam Bird won the first race at New York City and had Vergne and Sarrazin at the podium with him. The top 10 was completed with Di Grassi, Duval, Turvey, Gasly, Prost, Frijns and Carroll.

Tomorrow will be time for the second race at New York, the last chance for Di Grassi to take the points that he need to beat Sebastien Buemi, but it won’t be easy, the DS Virgin cars are quite fast and you know that in Formula E everything can happen and the race can change even in the last lap.
