F1 – Canadian GP – Qualifying

Third round of motorsport today with the Formula 1 Canadian GP. Mercedes is not strong enough to beat the Ferrari this weekend, but this is F1 and everything can happen. For now we just enjoyed the qualifying session at Montreal.
First round of qualifying with the Ferrari as the main favorites for the pole position. Vettel and Kimi started the session in front with Fernando Alonso third, yes, a McLaren on third position, but Ocon with the ultra soft compound made a faster lap than the spaniard, something that Pérez also made. Hamilton with the ultrasoft could take the second position, while Ferrari made their laps with supersoft compound, but Bottas could make the fastest lap, but again, with the ultra soft one. Vandoorne with the McLaren touched the wall but without problems on his McLaren while he was in 14th position. Hamilton could improve and reached the second position while Kimi with the super soft compound was in 9th position with 3 minutes left. With just a few seconds left Wehrlein crashed and destroyed the rear wing of his Sauber. Chequered flag and at the knockout zone we had Vandoorne, Stroll, Magnussen, Ericsson and Wehrlein.
Time for the Q2 and this time every mistake could mean being out for the battle for Q3. Carlos Sainz made the same mistake as Wehrlein, but the spaniard didn’t crash the car and could continue without problems. Hamilton was in front with Raikkonen really close to him with Bottas 3rd and Vettel 4th. Chequered flag and everyone tried to make their final lap, but Kvyat touched the wall and had a puncture. Hamilton finished on top and at the knockout zone we had Kvyat, Alonso, Sainz, Grosjean and Palmer.
Final round of the qualifying and the battle between Ferrari and Mercedes was awesome. On their first attemp both Mercedes made an awesome lap and were faster than both Ferrari with more than 5 tenths of distance between them. Vettel made a second lap and was making record in every sector but he failed at the end… but just 0.004!
Everyone made their final changes on their cars and went again on track with new ultra soft tyres. Hamilton was the first driver to stop the time and he even improved the time, with a 1:11.459, near impossible to beat. Vettel tried to catch him but he made a couple of mistakes.
Pole position for Lewis Hamilton, his 62th pole, the sames as his hero, Ayrton Senna. Sebastian Vettel and Valtteri Bottas will be with them at the interviews. Raikkonen, Verstappen, Ricciardo, Massa, Perez, Ocon and Hulkenberg closed the top 10.
Tomorrow everything can happen at the race. Ferrari has a better pace, but Mercedes will defend the first position. Stay tuned here to know what will happen with your favorite characters.
