Gresini’s Álex Márquez stunned the home crowd by winning the Catalan MotoGP, ending his brother Marc’s astonishing 15-race unbeaten streak. It was only the second victory of his career, and came just a day after crashing out of the sprint race.
After a pole position launch, Álex was initially overtaken by Marc at turn 1, but refused to settle. He retook the lead on lap 4 and gradually increased his pace. Despite relentless pursuit from Marc, Álex held firm and crossed the finish line 1.740 seconds ahead, showcasing composure and resilience.
Enea Bastianini secured third, delivering his first grand prix podium with Tech3 KTM, while Pedro Acosta and Fabio Quartararo completed the top five. Notably, Acosta struggled late in the race due to a risky soft rear tire choice.
Marc’s championship hopes remain alive, but his lead is now trimmed to 182 points, meaning he cannot seal the 2025 title just yet. The Grand Prix marked a triumphant moment for Álex and a rare upset in Marc’s dominant season.
