Marc Márquez extended his incredible run in the sprint race by claiming victory yet again at Assen, marking his ninth sprint win of the 2025 season . Starting from fourth on the grid, he launched fiercely into turn 1, quickly challenging Fabio Quartararo before seizing the lead at the end of Lap 1 . His sibling rivalry continued, as Álex Márquez stuck with him—but could never quite find a way past—as Marc fully embraced his dominant pace .
Despite suffering two heavy crashes during Friday practice and describing the start of the day as “lazy,” Marc dug deep to overcome physical discomfort and mental fatigue, admitting he “didn’t bet on myself” before the sprint . His resilience paid off: he managed to withstand pressure from Álex while Marco Bezzecchi secured his first sprint podium of the year in third place on the Aprilia .
Fabio Quartararo, who took pole for the sprint, was unable to hold on—he dropped to fourth before crashing out on lap 10, clearing the way for the Marquez 1–2 and Aprilia’s Bezzecchi . Behind them, the field settled into a processional rhythm, with Álex finishing just 0.351 seconds behind his older brother, underlining the tight margins and fierce competition .
Marc’s tenth straight sprint podium—and ninth win in ten rounds—not only cements his dominance in the short format but also widens his championship lead to 43 points over Álex . With yet another flawless performance despite mid‑week setbacks, Marc has sent a powerful message heading into Sunday’s main race: he’s the man to beat in Assen.
