Moto GP – US GP – Qualifying

After a historic win from Aleix Espargaro at Argentina, the calendar goes to the United States, for the 2022 US GP at “Circuit of the Americas”. Well know for being one of the largest circuits at the calendar.

The first Qualy session saw championship leader Aleix Espargaro, Maverick Viñales, Alex Rins and Jorge Martin as main candidates for a Q2 spot, first minutes saw Alexi Rins ahead on the standings, followed by Aleix Espargaro on the provisional 2nd spot, As Darryl Binder was the first incident of the session.
With the second stint underway, it was Jorge Martin who took the fastest lap, leaving Aleix out of the Q2 zone, the Aprillia pushed hard on track, but the rider would fell of his bike and ended just short at 13th. Remy Gardner also had a incident on track. At the end, Jorge Martin and Alex Rins were the riders who took part on Q2.

Next Qualy session went underway, with the many posible candidates between Martin, Zarco, Miller, Quartararo, Marquez, Morbidelli, Bastianini, Martin and many other riders who can make some noise at this session. First laps saw a provisional Ducati front row, with Miller, Bagnaia and Martin on the first 3 places, meanwhile Enea Bastianini suffered an incident on his 2nd flying lap. Fabio Quartararo also suffered a similar outcome as Enea, as the defending champion also saw the ground ot the same turn.
The second stint saw a fierce battle between the Ducati bikes, the last flying laps were intense, Francesco Bagnaia first took a provisional pole, then Jack Miller break the circuit record some seconds later, and ifnaly, with a storming last sector, Jorge Martin took the pole position from Jack Miller by jist +0.003 seconds. With Johann Zarco 4th and Enea Bastianini 5th, Ducat clinched a dominant top 5 at COTA

What it was usually a dominant qualy session by Marc Marquez on previous years, today it saw a dominant performance by a whole bike manufacturer. It would be hard to think that Quartararo, Rins, Mir, Marc Marquez or any other rider could take a win against probably the best weekend of a Ducati bike on the season, but anything could signifiaclly change the panorama on tomorrow’s race
