Spain is the home of MotoGP. With 4 races in this country, Jerez will become the start of the European round of MotoGP. The qualifying session has just finished and the riders are ready for a race that will be very special, and all thanks to the fans who have something really special for the 12+1 lap tomorrow.
At the first round of qualifying we had some favorite riders even before the start, with Andrea Dovizioso, the championship leader and . The Espargaró brothers become the fastest riders at the start of the round but Dovizioso and his Ducati made a lap almost 1 second faster than the spanish rider. Morbidelli also improved the time of Aleix and was 2nd with just 10 minutes to go. Rabat also improved his time and was 2nd, and no one was able to improve both times, except Viñales, who improved Rabat’s time who crashed just a few seconds later. Dovizioso and Viñales finished the session on top with Aleix, Nakajima, Morbidelli, Pol Espargaró, Rabat, Luthi, Kallio, Bautista, Smith, Syahrin, Abraham, Simeon and Redding at the end of the Q2.
Second qualifying round with Marc Marquez as the favorite for the session. Iannone was the fastest rider after the first attempt, but Marquez arrived with this Honda and improved the time of the Maniac. Marquez, Iannone and Pedrosa were the top 3 with half of the session to go.
Crutchlow and Lorenzo were coming with red helmets while Marc Marquez was at boxes watching the lap of the two riders. Crutchlow improved Marquez’s time and was on provisional pole while Lorenzo was only 4th. Marquez went to a last sting and try to improve the time of Crutchlow.
Final minute and everyone was improving their times, making personal best laps, like Zarco who was 3rd, while Marquez couldn’t improve and was staying 4th. A lot of riders were coming with red helmet when the chequered flag was shown to the riders. Crutchlow even improved his time.
Cal Crutchlow will start the Spanish GP tomorrow on pole position with Dani Pedrosa 2nd and Johann Zarco 3rd. The Q2 group was completed with Lorenzo, Marquez, Rins, Iannone, Dovizioso, Petrucci, Rossi, Viñales and Miller.
Tomorrow Cal Crutchlow has another chance to recover the points that he lost in America, but it will be hard with Pedrosa as one of the strongest riders for the race. What will happen at the Circuito de Jerez Angel Nieto? The answer tomorrow. Stay tuned.
