The championship is still alive for the next round of the championship. The United States gave us, like we’re used to, a strategic race where the ultrasoft compound had problems due the high temperatures and chaos specially after the chequered flag.

Great start for Sebastian Vettel who overtook Lewis Hamilton. He wants to get his 5th title so he has to finish ahead the British driver. At the back Alonso overtook Sainz at his debut with Renault, but the young spaniard wanted to battle the 2 times World Champion, but the McLaren driver could avoid the overtake. On the other hand, Magnussen touched Wehrlein, having a puncture the Haas driver while Wehrlein had to retire a few laps later.

Verstappen who had to make a comeback due a grid penalty, could reach at lap 10 the 6th position without problems. The other Red Bull, Ricciardo, was fighting with Bottas for the podium, but the aussie destroyed his tires and was attacked by Raikkonen so he had to pit early. Meanwhile Hamilton overtook Vettel and took again the first position of the race and started to put some time between him and Vettel.

Daniel Ricciardo after his pitstop had to retire because his engine switched off. At the front again Hamilton made his pitstop a few laps later after Vettel, who almost attacked him at turn 1, but the British could continue in front without problems. Another retirement also for Fernando Alonso who said on his radio that he has issues with his engine when he was chasing Ocon.

Sainz started to show more pace than the Force India drivers who were again together this race and Sergio asked the team to switch places with Ocon. The spaniard prepared really well the overtake to the mexican driver and took the 7th position on a great overtake at the 3rd sector. On the other hand, Bottas was being chased by Raikkonen, the Mercedes driver was having problems with the tires and Verstappen was getting close to them, but instead of attacking them, Verstappen pitted and put super soft tires, and at the next lap, Vettel pitted, the surprise was that Verstappen was really close to the Ferrari driver.

During the final laps of the race Sainz was trying to attack Ocon, but he wasn’t able to finish the overtake. In front, Vettel overtook Bottas and took the podium and also Raikkonen let his teammate to pass to let the championship alive for one more race. Meanwhile Verstappen overtook Bottas and tried the same to Raikkonen and at the final lap, the Red Bull driver overtook Raikkonen, crossing the finish line in 3rd position… but he couldn’t reach the podium because he received a 5 second time penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage.

Lewis Hamilton won the United States Grand Prix and he only need to finish 5th to get his 4th title. Sebastian Vettel finished in 2nd position and Kimi Raikkonen 3rd. The top 10 was completed with Verstappen, Bottas, Ocon, Sainz, Perez, Massa and Kvyat.

The next round will be the next week at Mexico. Stay tuned because Hamilton has the biggest championship point to get his 4th title.
