F1 – British GP – Qualifying

A rainy Silverstone made a wet welcome to the drivers for the British GP. The summer in Great Britain didn’t brought for the drivers hot temperatures, it brought rain and chaos at the qualifying session.

The wet conditions made the teams to use the intermediate tires for the first round of qualifying despite some of them were starting with super soft, but they changed the compound after one lap. Ricciardo who was for now the fastest driver on track stopped the car causing a red flag. Once the session restarted, track was in better conditions and times were improving a lot. McLaren tried a suicide movement entering Alonso on pits and change to super soft compound, passing through the finish line with enough time to make his lap. Alonso finished on top with Stroll, MAgnussen, Wehrelein, Ericsson and Ricciardo at the knockout zone.

Second session of qualifying and everyone was making their lap with super soft compound. Race was going without probelms this time with Bottas making a lap with soft compound while everyone was using the super soft because Valtteri has a 5 position grid penalty. With the chequered flag Hamilton finished on top and the knockout zone was for Palmer, Kvyat, Alonso, Sainz and Massa.

Time to get serious with the final round of qualifying. Ferrari or Mercedes will be the only ones who can make the pole, the question is which driver will do it. On their first attempt Hamilton made the fastest lap with Vettel 2nd close really close to him. Bottas, Kimi and Verstappen completed the top 5.

After the last changes on their cars the drivers were doing their final lap. Bottas made a mistake on his flying lap, with everyone improving. Hamilton broke the time being the only driver with a 1:26 time. The british could take the pole position against Kimi Raikkkonen and a very angry Sebastian Vettel.

Lewis Hamilton will need one more pole position to equal Michael Schumacher and being the driver with more pole positions in F1 history. Kimi Raikkonen will start 2nd and Sebastian Vettel 3rd. The top 10 was completed with Valtteri Bottas (who will start 9th due his penalty) Verstappen, Hulkenberg, Perez, Ocon, Vandoorne and Grosjean.

Tomorrow the race will bring great emotions and battles for the victory. Stay tuned to know what will happen and know who will be the winner at the Formula 1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
