The british driver started on pole followed by Sebastian Vettel who had a battle with Verstappen and Bottas at the start, causing a small collision between the german and the Red Bull driver, but the huge crash came at the back of the grid when Sainz had a strange move with his Toro Rosso, making contact with Grosjean, causing the spaniard to spun, crash into the wall, continue at the track and finishing with a combo with Felipe Massa causing a safety car.

When the race started again Sebastian Vettel lost the right part of the front wing and had to pit early making a new race with different strategy, something that Lewis Hamilton enjoyed because his rival at the championship was last with no options to score points, but this is F1 and everything can happen.

The other Toro Rosso on track had problems too. Daniil Kvyat’s car didn’t start at the installation lap with the rest of the drivers and had to recover the positions before reaching the starting grid, but he received a drive through penalty for that… if it wasn’t enough, the FIA said that they made a mistake and they gave him a 10 second time penalty for the same reason, and when he made the penalty he had problems with the rear right tyre of his Toro Rosso and had to retire.

Meanwhile at the medium part of the grid Alonso was fighting to score the first points with McLaren for this season but with only 2 laps to reach the chequered flag the engine of the McLaren stopped and he had to retire another time this season, but at least he brought the smile to the fans because he went to the grandstand to enjoy the end of the race.

At the podium zone Ricciardo was defending the position with Pérez and Ocon. The mexican couldn’t overtake him so Ocon asked the team if they could change positions and he could try to overtake him, but Pérez didn’t move. Ferrari, on their side, made an extra pitstop and started to use ultra soft compound, being more than 1 second per lap than Force India, reaching both drivers and overtaking Vettel the two of them.

Lewis Hamilton won the Canadian Grand Prix and made a 1-2 for Mercedes with Valtteri Bottas 2nd and Daniel Ricciardo closing the podium. The top 10 was completed with Sebastian Vettel, Sergio Pérez, Esteban Ocon, Kimi Raikkonen, Nico Hulkenberg, Lance Stroll (scoring his first points in F1) and Romain Grosjean.

The next round of the championship will be in two weeks at Baku for the European GP. Hamilton will try to become again leader of the championship but Sebastian Vettel won’t let him do it. Stay tuned to know how will continue this exciting championship.
