Formula E – Berlin ePrix – Race 2
The second round at Berlin is here and the championship is getting better for the next rounds at New York and Canada. The race at the airport gave us again a lot of emotions and moments that the Minis will bring you with their unique sense of humor.
Felix Rosenqvist started on pole and he made an awesome start followed by Buemi, Lopez and Bird. The positions didn’t change so much at the front, but at the back we saw how Engel touched Conway, making that the first one has to go to boxes.
At the front Di Grassi, who scored some nice points this Saturday, but this time Buemi was in front of him so he has to overtake the rivals and try not to lose so many points, so he overtook Turvey, but the driver from Nio tried to attack the brazilian, but he was overtaken by Abt and Prost.
We had a few battles at the front, like the one between the teammates of DS Virgin. Bird tried to overtake Lopez, but the driver from Argentina defended the position and Bird had to ran away of the track and lost position with Lopez, Vergne, Di Grassi, Abt and Prost.
The moment that decided the race was at the pitstop, when Rosenqvist was making his pit exit because at that moment Heidfeld entered to boxes and almost crashed with his teammate. Rosenqvist received a 10 second time penalty for that unsafe release, making him to lose the first position against Sebastien Buemi.
Another driver who received a penalty was Jerome D’Ambrosio who had a drive through penalty for making his pitstop under the minimum time limit.
The second part of the race gave us a battle between Vergne and the Audi drivers. First Di Grassi overtook the driver from Techeetah, taking the podium for the Brazilian driver, after that Abt tried to overtake the french driver, but he touched him and Abt couldn’t overtake him.
Felix Rosenqvist won the Berlin ePrix race, but with the penalty, Sebastien Buemi took the victory with the Mahindra driver in second position. Lucas Di Grassi finished 3rd and the top 10 was completed with Abt, Lopez, Vergne, Bird, Prost, Turvey and Heidfeld.
The next double race will be New York at the end of the month. Buemi will miss those races, so Di Grassi has a great chance to take the lead of the championship. We’ll see what will happen, but for sure the Minis will be here to bring you the updates of the FIA Formula E season.
