Moto GP – Algarve GP – Race

2nd raceday at Portimão, as the penultimate race of the 2021 Championship takes place at the El Autódromo Internacional do Algarve. A event that gave a conclusion on the constructors championship standings.

Lights were off and away with Bagnaia on the lead, with Mir, Miller, Martin and Alex Marquez closing the top 5. Danilo Petrucci was part of the first race incident of the weekend. Positions barely changed at the top 10 on the first laps of the race.

At front, 3 bikes were separating from the rest of the pack, as Bagnaia, Mir and Miller started to escape of the rest. With only Alex Marquez being able to keep up with the 3 up front. Alexi Espargaro suffered the second crash of the day.

At the half of the race, the front riders started to separate between each one of them, Bagnaia opened the gap with Mir, and the Suzuki rider got away from Alex Marquez and Jack Miller, who were fighting for the last spot on the podium.

As the race headed to their final laps, several noticeable crashes happened. First the riders champion Fabio Quartararo had his first DNF of the season as the frenchman went to the gravel, then a big accident occurred as Miguel Oliveira and Iker Lecuona crashed between each other and race direction showed a red flag. With only 2 laps remaining, the race was ended after the big incident, where the two bikers could walk away from that situation.

Francesco Bagnaia keeps the big momentum with his 3rd win on the last 5 races, Joan Mir completes another podium and Jack Miller could make a move on Alex Marquez and took 3rd on just seconds before the crash.
