MotoGP – 2020 Czech Republic GP – QUALIFYING

We’re Back again after a week for the third race of this unexxpected calendar, with the teams reuniting at Brno Circuit for this year´s Czech Republic GP. As Fabio Quartararo seeks to extend the championship lead against the rest of the riders, while Marc Marquez would miss this GP after he needed another surgery to fix his broken arm. Being replaced by reserve rider Stefan Bradl.
First qualy session had some notable names that were struggle to find pace on the free practice sessions such as Andrea Dovizioso, Álex Rins, Takaaki Nakagami and Jack Miller; these last two riders being favorites to advance at next session. as first minutes passed, it was Brad Binder on the Red Bull KTM who had a better pace compared to the rest of the pack, followed by Miller, Rins and Nakagami. at the second stint, the Japanese rider on the LCR Honda went -0.001 faster than session leader Binder, but eventually had his lap cancelled due to abuse of track limits, while Alex Rins makes a one last effort to get the last spot on Q2 just +0.061 behind of Brad Binder. Dovizioso and the oficial Hondas were the disappoints of this session, with the oficial Ducati at 18th and 20th to 21th for Bradl and Alex Marquez respectively.

The next session went green with many candidates on track fighting for pole position. with Quartararo and Viñales as main candidates, and some notable new faces on this season like Johann Zarco, Danilo Petrucci and Espargaro brothers. the riders on first row on the first session were Fabio Quartararo, Pol Espargaro with a tremendous lap at 2nd place and Alex Rins with a strong 3rd after he was injured 3 weeks ago on the first round on Jerez. at the second stint, the red sectors were shown, with Viñales, Binder and Aleix Espargaro ascending places on the grid; but Aleix had his lap cancelled due to abuse of track limits. Eventually a surprise was shown, with Johann Zarco storming a fastest lap with 2 minutes to go on the Real Avintia Ducati, with only Quartararo with chance to took pole, the tension was rising, as the Petronas Yamaha was close to a great time, the French rider fell from the bike and secured a 5th pole for Zarco and first since 2018, with a front row lock of Petronas Yamaha, with Fabio Quartararo on 2nd and Franco Morbideli ath 3th.

Tomorrow Zarco will face the race looking for the first podium for Avintia or who knows if it will be the first victory. Stay tuned because we can expect an awesome race tomorrow for sure at the Cathedral of MotoGP.
