F1 – British GP – Qualifying

Hello MiniFans and welcome back to the birthplace of Formula 1, England! This weekend, we are racing in Silverstone and even though many people thought it could have been the last race here, it won’t be that case! During the beginning of this week, the chairmen signed a five-year contract to keep hosting the British Grand Prix. Now, let’s get to qualifying!
At the beginning of Q1, Verstappen told us over the radio that he kept having problems with his Bull. Meanwhile, Leclerc drove the fastest lap of the session. With about five minutes to go, his time was bested by Hamilton. It was remarkable that both of the Alfa Romeos were once again able to proceed to the second part of qualifying! We went to Q2 without Magnussen, Kvyat, Stroll, Russell and Kubica.
Leclerc was back on top during Q2, followed by Bottas and Hamilton. We could also see that both Renaults made it to Q3 again. It’s significant how many troubles the drivers have with their tyres on the cold track. It is in fact the coldest Grand Prix of this season so far. We had to leave Giovinazzi, Raikkonen, Sainz, Grosjean and Perez behind after the second part.
At the start of Q3, we got to know that both of the Ferrari drivers will start on Soft tyres, while the Silber Pfeilen will start on the Medium compount. It is rather odd that Ferrari chose for the softest compound, because cold weather normally asks for harder tyres. Is it yet another weird strategy of Ferrari that won’t work out or not? We will see it tomorrow!
Valtteri Bottas takes pole in Silverstone and will start next to Hamilton. On the second row, we have Leclerc and Verstappen, followed by Gasly, Vettel, Ricciardo, Norris, Albon and Hulkenberg.
We are curious for the cold race of tomorrow. Will it mix up things on the grid? Or will DarkMini make an end on someone’s race? Stay tuned!
