The sprint race in Austin delivered one of the most dramatic and unpredictable short races of the season, with constant action from start to finish at the Circuit of the Americas. Jorge Martín emerged as the ultimate winner after a stunning comeback ride, in a contest marked by crashes, late overtakes and shifting momentum at the front. The result also had major implications for the championship fight, with several key contenders losing valuable points along the way.

At the start, the field charged into the steep uphill first corner with aggression, but chaos arrived almost immediately. Marc Márquez made a mistake under braking in the opening lap and collided with Fabio Di Giannantonio, taking both riders out of contention and triggering early drama in the race. While the front group tried to settle into rhythm, the incident left two of the expected contenders out before the race had even properly begun.
Francesco Bagnaia took control of the race in the early laps, showing strong pace and consistency as he attempted to break away from the chasing group. Behind him, Martín began his recovery after starting from seventh on the grid, steadily climbing positions with aggressive but controlled riding. Pedro Acosta also positioned himself in the fight for the podium, keeping close to the leaders as the race developed.
As the laps ticked down, the tension at the front increased. Bagnaia remained in the lead, but Martín continued to close the gap, clearly saving something for the final moments. At the same time, Marco Bezzecchi—another key contender—crashed out while trying to stay in the fight, adding another twist to an already chaotic race and opening the door further for Martín.
The decisive moment came on the final lap. Martín launched a perfectly timed attack into one of the heavy braking zones, overtaking Bagnaia with a bold move that left no room for response. The pass secured him the lead and ultimately the victory, completing an impressive comeback from deep on the grid and showcasing his racecraft under pressure.
At the checkered flag, Martín crossed the line to take a spectacular win, with Bagnaia forced to settle for second place and Acosta completing the podium after a consistent performance. The race ended with yet another twist, as Martín crashed during his post-race celebration while attempting a wheelie, fortunately without injury. The sprint in Austin will be remembered not only for its dramatic finish, but also for the chaos and intensity that defined every lap.
