MotoGP – Thailand GP – Qualifying

As the last week race in Japan, riders returns to Thailand after a three-year absence, for the 17th race of the season. As the Chang International circuit delivers one of the fastest tracks on the calendar.

First qualy session went underway, main name to highlight is championship contender Aleix Espargaro, with a highly urgency to reach a top 2 spot, for a chance of a good position on the grid. As Marc Marquez set the bar high as the provisional lead, it was Cal Crutchlow who was on the 2nd spot for Q2, with Aleix Espargaro falling behind.

The full participant riders took the second stint, with their respective last attemtps of the session, as Aleix Espargaro grab the fastest lap with a few minutes left. With Marc Marquez and Miguel Oliveira both making late charges for climbing at the standings, both riders were able to close the top fastest laps and advanced to the next session. A considerable hit to Aleix Espargaro’s championship hopes.

With the first session finished, the battle for pole position was underway. It started with a contested battle at the standings, as several riders were hitting red sectors on track, first part saw both Martin,Zarco and Quartararo on provisional top 3, as riders get ready for their last attemtps.

Last minutes were quite chaotic ones, as Martin was on provisional pole, Bagnaia was on a decent lap for a provisional front row, but a superb last sector catapult the Ducati on provisional pole, the Pramac rider didn’t heasitate and took back provisional pole, but then, a unexpected apperance from Marco Bezzecchi, on a superb last attemtp saw the 10th newest pole sitter of the season, as the Mooney rider clinches his first premier class pole position. Jorge Martin and Francesco Bagnaia closes the front row, with Championship leader just behind on 4th.

Another qualifying session comes to an end with another high note and a new pole sitter. both Quartararo and Bagnaia would start closely on tomorrow’s race, meanwhile Aleix Espargaro would had to do some work in order to maintain championship contention.
