MotoGP – 2022 Qatar GP – Qualifying

Marhaba, MiniFans! MotoGP is back and the first qualifying session has finished at Lusail International Circuit. The test were over and the first grid of the season is settled for the race tomorrow. Wanna know what happened during the first qualifying of the season? Then check out our report!

Fabio Quartararo was the main surprise for the first qualifying round, the actual World Champion had to defend his crown from the first qualifying round of the year ahead of a lot of rookies who want to show that they can become World Champions this season. Brad Binder and Zarco were too close to Quartararo during the first laps of the day, but anyone can reach the first two positions and win a place for the fight for the pole position. Final lap for everyone and Quartararo made a mistake and couldn’t improve his time, same with Zarco who couldn’t reach the top 2 because his lap was cancelled because of yellow flag. Brad could improve his time and finished on first position with Quartararo 2nd. Behind them finished Zarco, Oliveira, Bezzecchi, Nakagami, Marini, Alex Marquez, Viñales, Dovizioso, Di Giannantonio, Gardner, Fernandez and Darryn Binder.

Time for something serious, time for fight for the first pole of the season. The eyeres were on Marc Marquez, who showed a good pace during the weekend and on his first attempt, he used Joan Mir’s slipstream to improve his time and were on provisional pole. Jack Miller improved the time of the spaniard, same happened with Pol and Martin, who took the first line of the grid during the first half of the session… Who would take the pole? The session was getting more exciting and any rider can finish first.

In their second attempt, this time Marquez used Bagnaia’s slipstream to beat Miller’s time and as we could imagine, Bagnaia improved his teammate’s time, but Marquez could get another tenth and be again on provisional pole. Everyone was on red helmet and tried their best to get the first pole position of the season. Miller, Martin, Binder… everyone improved their time and even Jorge Martin was able to beat Marquez’s time and get the pole. Final minute and everyone had one more attempt.

Jorge Martin finished on pole with a Enea Bastianini who made an awesome final lap in second position. The first line was closed with Marc Marquez and the rest of the grid was completed with Miller, Aleix, Pol, Brad Binder, Mir, Bagnaia, Rins, Quartararo and Morbidelli.

Tomorrow the race will look interesting with Jorge Martin on pole, during the last years the Ducati bikes were the fastest ones on the grid, but this time they have a new bike on the first row with Gresini Racing, and it looks like Marc is back and is ready for action. Don’t miss the race tomorrow to know who will become the first winner of the season.
