Moto GP – GP of the Americas – Race

A cloudy day at Austin saw the riders at COTA. A race that showed a dominant performance from a rider that usually tends to deliver at the United States. It was also showed a tactical battle on deciding which compound had to be choosen for todays race. As the track showed tricky asphalt conditions.

Ligths were off with Marc Marquez with a lightning start, as the Honda rider took the lead early, as Quartararo followed him as 2nd place and Bagnaia being constantly pressured at 3rd. As riders finished the first laps, it looked quite contested on the leading group, as Marquez was holding up Quartararo´s pressure on track. Meanwhile Martin and Miller were looking strong, Bagnaia was struggling to fin pace on the first part of the race. There were some incidents at the first part of the race, as Nakagami and Zarco both went to the ground.
As the situation developed between Quartararo, Martin and Miller, it was the perfect opportunity for Marquez to develop a gap at the lead, as the Spaniard opened the gap againts the competition. Meanwhile Aleix Espargaro suffered the 5th crash of the weekend.
With the race going to the final laps, the positions on track seemed quite established with Maquez leading, Quartararo at 2nd and Martin on 3rd place. But things were looking hard for the Pramac bike, as his pace sharply fell off and was penalized with a long lap. Ducati eventually played their card in order to minimize the damage, as Bagnaia was promoted to 3rd place. The chequered flag was showed on track and Marquez re-conquers Austin once again, with Quartararo with a massive 2nd and Bagnaia minimizing the damage on 3rd

Marquez returns to the top spot at the podium with another dominant performance at COTA. Meanwhile Quartararo would have match point as the calendar goes back to San Marino for the second time this season, on two weeks.
