Moto GP – French GP – Qualifying

Back for some more Moto GP action, as the calendar goes once again at Circuito de la sarthe, with all teams trying yo adapt to unknown condition as the most of the six races left on the calendar, would be raced on other dates and most likely, different temperatures and track conditions

The first Q1 session both Suzuki riders Mir and Rins, as both have struggle to found a proper pace at track and also having reliability issues on the bikes. Petrucci, Binder, Nakagami and Bagnaia were other strong candidates to advance at next session

As first minutes passed by, the Honda bikes of Alex Marquez and Takaaki Nakagami were leading ahead, but eventually were overtook by the Ducatis of Danilo Petrucci and Francesco Bagnaia both riders were showing a strong pace compared to the rest of the group. At final stint, the only rider who actually was able to gave some competition for the first two spots was Joan Mir, even if he was on a lot of issues, found some good laps at the end. But eventually the Pramac rider overtook the the Suzuki rider and took P2, with Petrucci taking the first spot on the session. Disastrous session for Brad Binder, who had a lot of issues all day long.

the next qualify session saw all riders going for soft tires at a tricky track condition and many candidates to grab a pole today. It all started strong on the first minutes, as all riders were showing red sectors on track and eventually a mix at the standings happened, with Quartararo as provisional pole, followed by Bagnaia, Morbidelli and Yamaha riders Viñales and Rossi.

There was not much movement on the standings for some minutes of the session, even some riders had to end the session like Bagnaia, as he run out of tyre compounds to use on qualy. But eventually the last minutes were intense, at first Dovizioso went strong getting a provisional front row start, then Crutchlow hit some red sectors and got ahead of Dovi but behind Quartararo, also Petrucci had a last strong pace and entered to the front row, Miller also had a strong lap and even took provisional pole at one moment, but finally it was the local hero Fabio Quartararo who regained his place as poleman, with Jack Miller 2nd and Danilo Petrucci closing the front row and his best qualy on this season so far.

Close Qualy session that shows that many riders and bikes have a similar performance on track, giving high expectees on what could be a very close battle on tomorrow’s race.
