Moto GP – Emilia Romagna GP – Race

From a race that looked on a managable win from a rider ahead, becomes another impact moment as the championship keeps advancing. Battles, Crashes and late dramas were some of the main things that happened on the second race at the “Misano world circuit Marco Scimoncelli”.

As lights went of, Jack Miller went ahead of poleman Maverick Viñales at the first sector of the race, but the Spaniard would take the lead back from the Pramac rider. Followed by Bagnaia Quartararo, Binder and Pol Espargaro. Meanwhile, the crash fest started, as Aleix went down after a touch with Morbidelli, Rossi lost the front rear of his bike and then Binder also lose control of the bike.
Laps passed by and Bagnaia got closer to Viñales, the Pramac rider was flying on track, as his teammate was having issues with the bike. Eventually, the Italian rider made a move on Viñales and started to increase as race leader. Pol Espargaro went 3rd on that moment and also created a gap from his closest rival, Quartararo.
As race passed the equator, the race standings were almost the same, with only some battles at the middle of the grid. But there was still some race left, as Viñales started to close the gap to Bagnaia, expecting any mistake that could happend.
And it happened, as Francesco Bagnaia made a mistake at turn 6 and went to the gravel, giving Viñales the lead and losing a valuable chance for a maiden race win. As Viñales had a strong gap from 2nd place, the battle for the podium started to intensify, as Fabio Quartararo was looking for the second podium step from Pol Espargaro, with a potential championship leadership at his reach; As Dovizioso was riding 8th at the moment. Some other riders were having issues too, as Lecuona and Tito Rabat went to the ground
The last laps were an intense battle between the Petronas Yamaha and the official KTM, turn by turn, a constant attemts and close defending. But someone else would take advantage of it, As Joan Mir made some late moves as he did last week’s race. Overtaking Quartararo and Pol Espargaro on the last laps.
As these last two riders were still fighting for theblast step on podium, Fabio apparently abused the track limits, and was penalized with a long lap, which didn’t took because on what moment he recieved that penalty, it eventually became a 3-second time penalty and demoted him 4th place and affecting championship standings as consequence. Pol would grab his 2nd podium with KTM, Joan Mir would get yet another impressive podium finish and Maverick Viñales finally wins on this season.
