MotoGP – British GP – Qualifying

12th round of the MotoGP championship, as the riders moves to the longest circuit of the calendar. Silverstone is ready to host the British GP, after it couldn’t be raced last year after poor weather comditions and asphalt issues.

First qualify session saw last race winner, Andrea Dovizioso struggling to find a good pace on the previous FP sessions and eventually getting on the long way on qualifying day. Bagnaia, Pol Espargaro and Rins were other strong candidates for a place on the next session.

As first stint closed, Rins and Dovi were at the top of standings, followed closely by Pol Espargaro, Rabat and Bagnaia. Last attempt for the riders and it was Dovizioso who took first place and finally found some competitive pace for next session, followed by Alex Rins. Most of the changes were produced behind the 2 riders who classified to next session. Rins had some tension moments as his last lap was canceled by exceding track limits, but still had another strong lap to get through next session.

Next up, was the battle for the pole position, as riders go on track, expectatives increased, as Márquez had some competition to dealt on the track. Quartararo, Viñales, Rossi and even Dovizioso could take the front row spots om the grid.

First laps from the riders and it was “the diablo” Quartararo who was at the top of the group, chased by Márquez, Viñales and Morbidelli. Many of the riders were speculating at what moment they can make a lap, or use the pace of a co-teammate or another rider to increase the speed on track.

At half of the session, most of the Places didn’t change, with Miller and Crutchlow being an exception; everyone was getting ready for the last chance for pole. As riders were passing by, the red sectores were constantly showed, and riders were pushing to the limit. As Márquez, Rossi and Miller had a last chance to inprove times, all 3 of them were flying on track with the Spaniard getting his 60th pole, Rossi getting back to front row and Miller qualifying ahead of the official ducatis.

Good Qualifying performance for many riders from the grid, increasing the posible outcomes that this weekend’s race could have; Silverstone is ready for some MotoGP action.
