F1 – Austrian GP – Qualifying

The hot temperatures of summer arrived to Formula 1 and the Austrian GP is the hottest one that we had this season for now… and not only for the temperatures. Check out our report to know what happened.
Polemic first round of qualifying with Kimi Raikkonen and Lewis Hamilton. The British driver blocked the Iceman and he complained on the team radio. An investigation was showed and we have to see if the British will receive a position grid penalty or not. On the other hand, the session happened with no other incidents and Max Verstappen finished on top of the session with Perez, Stroll, Kvyat and both Williams at the knockout zone.
Time for the second round of qualifying, and as we’re getting used, some drivers try their lap with medium compound to make a different strategy for the race. Grosjean had problems with his front wing, which was damaged after taking the sausages outside the track. Leclerc finished the session on top with Grosjean, Hulkenberg, Albon, Ricciardo and Sainz at the knockout zone, and some positions will change due some grid penalties.
Final round of qualifying, time to get serious. Mercedes was not the fastest during the day, but we know that they always hide some extra power. Problems with Ferrari with Vettel. The Scuderia found a problem on his car and tried to fix it, but the German driver wasn’t able to make a lap and will start 10th tomorrow.
On the other hand, Leclerc was going really fast and was on provisional pole. Bottas was chasing him but in their last attempt, it was Hamilton who was really close to the time of the other driver from Ferrari, but it was for Leclerc the pole position.
Charles Leclerc will start the Austrian GP from pole position and the qualifying is completed with Hamilton, Verstappen, Bottas, Magnussen, Norris, Raikkonen, Giovinazzi, Gasly and Vettel. Lewis Hamilton received a 3 position grid penalty for the incident with Kimi Raikkonen.
Tomorrow will be the first time this season that Ferrari has a great chance to get a victory, same for Max Verstappen while Lewis Hamilton will make the race with a calculator. Who will win tomorrow? Tomorrow we’ll know the answer.
