MotoGP – United States GP – Qualifying

The championship goes to the lone star state, for the 3rd round of the MotoGP championship, with a 6 -time consecutive winner Marc Marquez looking for the “lucky 7” and extend his advantage at the drivers standings; but first, he needs to fights his place on pole, nothing is written yet.

Qualifying

Q1 started with some unusual on the session, as Ducati riders Andrea Dovizioso and Danilo Petrucci had to gain a spot on next session, but Iannone, Mir, Nakagami, Lorenzo and the rest of the pack, wouldn’t gave up that easily. Middle of the session and it was Miguel Oliveria giving a strong lap, with Petrucci close by, but as the time runs out, many movements occurred on the standings as Lorenzo, Mir, Nakagami and Aleix Espargaro were hitting red sectors, with Ducati riders followed closely; at the end, it was Lorenzo and Petrucci who took a place on Q2, leaving Dovizioso with a shocking 13th place

Second qualy was underway, with Marquez as the rider to beat, Viñales, Rossi, Miller, Rins and Crutchlow showed strong pace at the first minutes of the session, but Marc smashed those times with a 2:03:787, the fastest lap of the weekend, on the other hand, his teammate, Jorge Lorenzo didn’t had a easy session, as his bike had a gear problem at the main straight, and had to run to the box, so he could make another lap. Time passed, riders made their final run, but no one could be close to that outstanding lap for Márquez, the closest rider was Valentino Rossi, with a more than 0.4 decimal of gap between them. Session ended with Marc getting his 7th consecutive pole on COTA, with Rossi 2nd and an inspired Cal Crutchlow completing the front row.
