MotoGP – Australian GP – Qualifying

Phillip Island is getting ready for the 17th race of the calendar, as weird things had happend on the previous session, from animal interaction on the track, to strong accidents, one of them cause the unfortunate injury of Cal Crutchlow, who will miss the rest of the season due to a fracture of the malleolus and the tibia, we hope he can get better soon. Also not forgetting that the 2nd Ducati rider for this weekend alongside with Dovizioso would be the Spaniard veteran Alvaro Bautista, a well deserved prize after a great 2nd part of the season.

Q1 session started with Alvaro, Pedrosa, Nakagami and Morbidelli as the main candidates for Q2, as the Ducati rider showed a strong pace at the first half of the session, followed close by Xavier Simeon, Franco Morbidelli and Karel Abraham looking for a place on next session. Time was running out, Bautista secured his place on Q2 and only one place was on the line, many red sector were shown and on the last minutes, it was Pol Espargaro who took second place from Abraham, Nakagami and Morbidelli.

Q2 started with strong news, drops of water were falling on track, so the riders went to make the laps quickly, being Marc Marquez the one who took more advantage of the adversities and get provisional pole, ahead of Maverick Viñales and Johann Zarco. Then some time passed and the Riders couldn’t make a strong lap to challenge Marquez for pole, the track was being tricky for the riders, as Alvaro had a accident when he was on a flying lap. At the end, the grid didn´t had mayor changes and Marquez clinched his 5th pole in a row on Phillip Island. with two Yamahas on the front row.

Anothe Pole for Marc Marquez, as the rain came too late on the circuit and affected the course of another exciting Qualify. With this unexpected and a tricky circuit at Phillip Island, a crazy race may occur tomorrow, one that can bring unexpected results on the table; who knows, maybe we can see a home hero taking the W in front of his crowd or a Suzuki on the main spot of the podium. Only time would tell us the answer.
