MotoGP – Americas GP – Qualifying

Talk about Circuit of the Americas is talk about Marc Marquez. The Spaniard won every time that he came to Austin and no one was able to beat him. This year things could be different with the great battle that we are enjoying this season, but for now, this is what happened at the qualifying session.
First round of qualifying with a slightly wet track condition. Syahrin was one of the favorites for the tricky conditions that we have at the track with Danilo Petrucci as the other favorite to go to Q2. Karen Abraham crashed at the early minutes of the session on turn 10, but he could return, use his second bike and finish a lap at the Circuit of the Americas. Bautista was coming on red helmet but he found Redding at the end of the long straight and he almost hit him, losing also the time that he made. Chequered flag and Pol Espargaró and Danilo Petrucci will go to Q2 while the low part of the grid will be completed with Nakagami, Rabat, Smith, Syahrin, Morbidelli, Miller, Aleix, Luthi, Bautista, Redding, Abraham and Simeon.
Second qualifying round, time to get serious and wonder if someone will take out the crown to Marc Marquez at the Circuit of the Americas. The Spaniard started on provisional pole, but he also crashed at the half of the session, but he could recover and do the second half of the session with his 2nd bike, but again we had polemic with Marquez and a Yamaha rider, but in this case it was with Viñales who complained about Marquez at the preparation lap.
Lorenzo improved his time and was 2nd, Valentino Rossi also made the same and was also 2nd. No one was able to beat Marquez’s time. Maverick Viñales was the only one who beat the time of the number 93, but 2 seconds later, Marquez improved his time and was again on provisional pole. Chequered flag and no one could beat the king of the COTA.
Pole position for Marc Marquez, being his 6th pole position at the Circuit of the Americas and the 46th pole position. Maverick Viñales and Andrea Iannone will start at the first row and the rest of the Q2 grid will be completed with Zarco, Rossi, Lorenzo, Crutchlow, Dovizioso, Pedrosa, Petrucci, Rins and Pol Espargaró
UPDATE: Marc Marquez received a 3 position grid penalty for his action with Maverick Viñales. The number 93 will start 4th tomorrow and the pole position will be for Viñales.
