Formula E – Hong Kong ePrix – Race 2
Never a birthday present felt so good for a driver. Daniel Abt took his first Formula E victory at the second race in Hong Kong in a way that he even didn’t expected.
The start at Hong Kong for this second race was delayed due a lights problems and the drivers had to start the race behind the safety car. Once the safety car went to boxes at the end of the first lap, Felix Rosenqvist, who started on pole, lost the control of the car and lost 10 positions, having to make a comeback.
The race was really quite and we saw a few battles like Sebastien Buemi trying to reach the points or Rosenqvist recovering the positions that he lost, and we could saw again a car stopping, in this case, it was Lucas Di Grassi, the actual champion who had problems before he made his pitstop.
A strange moment arrived when Nick Heidfeld was trying to overlap Edoardo Mortara who was defending the position because he thought he was fighting to take the lead. The Venturi driver was leading without probelms the whole race, but with 2 laps to to, the swiss driver spun and lost the first two positions agains Abt and Rosenqvist.
Daniel Abt won the second race at the Hong Kong E-Prix with Felix Rosenqvist and Edoardo Mortara at the podium. A great birthday present for the german driver who took his first FIA Formula E victory. The top 10 was completed with Evans, Vergne, Bird, Turvey, Engel, Prost and Lynn. Special mention to Andre Lotterer who crashed just at the last turn and couldn’t reach the finish line.
The next round of the championship will me next month in Marrakesch. The famous track will give us another exciting race of this championship which started in a chaotic way.
