MotoGP – Malaysian GP – Qualifying

The championship is reaching into his end and the riders had to face the last asian round of the championship. The qualifying session gave us some exciting battles for the pole position at the Sepang International Circuit.
During the first round of qualifying we could see finally Michael van der Mark racing this season, he was goign to be the replacement rider for Valentino Rossi but he finally made his debut replacing Jonas Folger this weekend. None of the top riders who were fighting for the victory was on Q1, so the battle for being on the top 2 positions were quite close. Petrucci and Rins were the ones who were on top during the first minutes of the session, switching also positions during the session. Van der Mark crashed on the last minute on turn 5 while Pol Espargaró improved reaching the 2nd position, all the riders were improving and that mean taking more risks and make mistakes, like Loris Baz, who also rashed when he was following Rins on the track, and also Pol Espargaró crashed a few seconds later. Chequered flag and Alex Rins and Pol Espargaró will go to Q2 while the lowest part of the grid will be completed with Petrucci, Redding, Bautista, Smith, Baz, Lowes, Rabat, Barbera, Abraham and van der Mark.
Time for the second round of qualifying in Malaysia and on their first attempt Marquez crash just when he was at the last turn of the track while Pedrosa took the first position followed by Zarco and Miller. Lorenzo with his Ducati improved and was not on 1st position. The riders were improving their times on their second lap, and now Zarco was on 1st position with Pedrosa 2nd. Viñales also improved and was 2nd while Lorenzo only stayed in 4th position. With the second bike, Marquez could reach the 3rd position after completing his 1st lap after his crash.
Final minutes of the session and everyone had their final setup on their bikes. Cal Crutchlow crashed on his flying lap while no one was able to beat Zarco’s time, but we could see how most of the riders were coming on red, improving their times. Pedrosa improved and took the first position, but Rossi also improved the time. Dovizioso also was coming really fast and improved, the pole position was a mistery until everyone finished their lap time. On the final second, Pedrosa and Zarco improved Dovizioso’s time.
Dani Pedrosa takes the pole position and will start 1st, something that he didn’t do since Barcelona and Johann Zarco and Andrea Dovizioso will follow him on 1st row. The rest of the Q2 grid was completed with Rossi, Viñales, Lorenzo, Marquez, Rins, Inanone, Crutchlow, Miller and Pol Espargaró.
That’s it for today, but the qualifying comics won’t end today. Formula 1 will face the Mexico Grand Prix and their qualifying session will start in a few hours. Stay tuned to know who will start on pole at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.
