F1 – Malaysian GP – Qualifying

Malaysia will say goodbye to Formula 1 after this season and gave us an exciting last qualifying at the Sepang International Circuit. Now that we know the grid for tomorrow we can only wait for an exciting race tomorrow.
First round of qualifying with problems for Sebastian Vettel. Ferrari changed the engine of the german driver, but he complained that he felt that he has no turbo and pitted without completing the lap. On Toro Rosso we had a change with Pierre Gasly making his debut in F1 at the seat of Daniil Kvyat and he was fighting for passing to Q2. On the final minutes Ferrari were ready with Sebastian’s car, but he couldn’t start. With the chequered flag Lewis Hamilton finished on top and we had at the knockout zone Grosjean, Magnussen, Wehrlein, Ericsson and Vettel.
Time for Q2 and Kimi Raikkonen made the best time of the weekend on his first lap, but Verstappen and Hamilton were really close to him in less than a tenth. McLaren showed a good pace and they were fighting for the top 10. Chequered flag and Valtteri Bottas took the first position with Massa, Palmer, Stroll, Sainz and Gasly at the knockout zone.
Final qualifying session and for the first time, we can hope for a different poleman with Red Bull fighting for the first position and Raikkonen being able to get also the pole. But as we are used, Lewis Hamilton showed his real power and made a lap 2 tenths faster than Kimi Raikkonen, who was the closest driver to him.
Final minutes of qualifying but no one could beat Hamilton’s time. Pole position for the british driver with Kimi Raikkonen 2nd and Max Verstappen, who turned 20 today in 3rd position. The top 10 was completed with Ricciardo, Bottas, Ocon, Vandoorne, Hulkenberg, Perez and Alonso.
Tomorrow Lewis will try to increase his advantage against Sebastian Vettel who will try to minimize the damage after today’s problems. The race will be on fire, specially with the rain prediction that we have. Stay tuned to know what will happen in Malasyia.
