The night of Singapore celebrates 10 years in F1, ten years on a track where we saw everything, from polemics, to people walking around the track and even a mini-godzilla around there. The qualifying session has just finished and everyone is ready for the race tomorrow.
During the first session the drivers were looking for the limits and we saw how Stroll was really close to hit the wall or Grosjean out of the track but recovering without problems, something that we couldn’t say with Felipe Massa who hit the wall and had a puncture at the rear right tire. The Red Bull boys were really fast and Verstappen had the fastest time during the first minute, followed by his teammate. A big smoke also arrived at the Toro Rosso of Daniil Kvyat, maybe preparing for the next season, because they will use Honda engines. The wall was touched by a few drivers apart of Massa like Ocon and Grosjean, but they didn’t break the car. Chequered flag and Max Verstappen finished the session on first position with Magnussen, Massa, Stroll, Wehrlein and Ericsson were eliminated after the Q1.
The track improved 1 second between Q1 and Q2 but on first position we had again Max Verstappen ahead of Sebastian Vettel with his teammate Daniel Ricciardo 3rd. The session was going without problems and we reached the chequered flag with all the drivers on track. Verstappen finished again on top with Palmer, Perez, Kvyat, Ocon and Grosjean.
Time to get serious with the final round of qualifying. Two Red Bull, two Ferrari, two Mercedes, two McLaren, a Renault and a Toro Rosso fighting for the pole. Fernando Alonso was on provisional pole, but Raikkonen beat the time with 1.8 seconds ahead the spaniard, but Verstappen arrives and improves the time of the Ferrari driver, but Sebastian Vettel takes the provisional pole.
Final lap for everyone and only a few drivers could improve their time. Vettel could even beat his own time but Verstappen made a bad lap. The german driver from Ferrari took the pole position and his maximum rival for the race will start in 5th position.
Pole position for Sebastian Vettel who will face the Red Bull drivers of Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo just behind him. The top 10 was completed with Raikkonen, Hamilton, Bottas, Hulkenberg, Alonso, Vandoorne and Sainz.
Tomorrow we have a long race ahead and Sebastian Vettel will try to take again the first position of the championship with his rival starting in 5th position, but the brakes will be very improtant tomorrow. Stay tuned to know what will happen.
