MotoGP – San Marino GP – Qualifying

MotoGP came to Misano for the San Marino Grand Prix with Valentino Rossi injured. The rider for who the majority of the fans were going to that Grand Prix will miss the next races after he broke his leg while he was training enduro the last week. The qualifying session finished a few minutes ago and the riders are now ready for the race tomorrow.
First round of qualifying and the first rider who crashed on the first minutes it was Sam Lowes, who won’t continue in MotoGP next season while Bautista and Rabat were the fastest riders on top. The Estrella Galicia team were celebrating 50 years with Elf and they showed a special livery for this weekend and both riders wanted to bring the best to the team, and it was now Miller who was on second position. On the final minutes it was Pol Espargaró who crashed when he was improving his lap. Chequered flag and Folger improved getting the provisional pole. The fastest riders who will go to Q2 were Bautista and Abraham because Folger and Miller had their time cancelled due to exceeding track limits. The lowest part of the grid was formed with Barbera, Miller, Baz, Folger, Pol Espargaro, Rabat, Redding, Rins, Iannone, Smith and Lowes.
Time to get serious with the fight for the pole position. Viñales, alone at the team without Rossi, was the fastest rider on his first lap. Pedrosa improved the time of the Yamaha rider, but Viñales was flying at the track, improving that time for almost 0,5 seconds. Marc Marquez showed that he still wants to fight for the championship and improved the time of Viñales for 0.016.
Last pitstop for everyone and the bikes are ready for their final laps at Misano. Dovizioso improves the time of Marquez by less than a tenth and has now the provisional pole position. Drama for Marquez who crashed on his final lap when he was coming on red helmet while Viñales takes the lead with a 1:32.439 time.
Chequered flag and Maverick Viñales took the pole position with Andrea Dovizioso 2nd and Marc Marquez on 3rd position. The Q2 grid was completed with Crutchlow, Lorenzo, Zarco, Pedrosa, Petrucci, Aleix, Bautista, Pirro and Abraham.
Tomrrow the race will be a thought battle for the first position of the championship but with one rider missing. Stay tuned to know what will happen tomorrow at Misano.
