Formula E – Berlin ePrix – Qualifying

First double race of the FIA Formula E season with the Berlin ePrix, which track changed again for this season. The new layout, which was at the old airport, like on season 1, will bring us the emotion of the most electric championship.


The first round of the qualifying had Frijns, Carroll, Abt, Da Costa and Bird. The session went without problems at the new layout for the Berlin ePrix. Sam Bird made the best time of the session followed by Abt, Frijns, Carroll and Da Costa.

Second group with Engel, Duval, D’Ambrosio, Prost and Vergne. Like in first session, the qualifying group made their laps without problems and Bird could keep his provisional pole followed by Vergne, Abt, Prost and D’Ambrosio.

Third round, this time with Piquet, Di Grassi, Rosenqvist, Evans and Lopez. Let’s see if they can improve Bird’s time. Lopez was really close to Bird, but Rosenqvist with his Mahindra improved and got the provisional pole. Chequered flag and Rosenqvist is on provisional pole with Bird, Lopez, Di Grassi and Vergne at top 10.

Final round with Dillmann, Buemi, Heidfeld, Sarrazin and Turvey. On their first attempt no one could reach the first top 5, with Turvey in 6th position. At their second lap Heidfeld improved and reach the third position. Chequered flag and we have the positions for the super pole with Rosenqvist, Bird, Heidfeld, Lopez and Di Grassi.

Di Grasi was the first drive who fought for the super pole and stopped the time at 1:08.312. Jose Maria Lopez was the second driver who was making his lap and was making a close time to Di Grassi, stopping the time at 1:08.313. Time now for the local hero, Nick Heidfeld, who was making his lap only 1 tenth slower stopping the time at 1:08.650 on third position right now. It was Sam Bird’s turn but he made a really slow lap, stopping the time at 1:09.724. And it was Rosenqvist’s turn, the last one, or the pole is for him, or for Di Grassi. He was making a 1:08.395

Pole position for Lucas Di Grassi by just 0.001. Jose Maria Lopez will follow him on second position with Rosenqvist and Heidfeld just behind them. Race will be in 3h and everything can happen at Berlin. Stay tuned for more updates.
