F1 – Monaco GP – Qualifying
Monaco is always special, is unique, is magical… and we had a different qualifying at the most famous streets in F1. Kimi Raikkonen took the pole position on a qualifying session where the mistakes caused a different top 10 for tomorrow.
Time for the first session at Monaco, the one where the traffic will be the most important, a bad choice from the team would mean being out for the battle for the pole. The big ones made their laps from the start and Verstappen, who still haven’t finished a race at Monaco, made the best time, with both Ferrari close to him. Ercisson broke his car on his last attempt on track and with the chequered flag we had at the knockout zone Ocon, Palmer, Stroll, Wehrlein and Ericsson.
Second round of qualifying and at the start Grosjean made a mistake at the first turn. Mercedes who were not finding the correct pace this weekend, had problems with Lewis Hamilton who had to make a few changes on his car during the whole weekend. On the last minute the british driver tried to improve his time but Vandoorne crashed his car at the pool zone and Lewis couldn’t make his lap, so Kimi Raikkonen finished the session on top and Kvyat, Hulkenberg, Magnussen, Hamilton and Massa were the drivers who were at the knockout zone.
Ferrari was really strong this weekend, and Kimi Raikkonen was the fastest driver on the first attempt of Q3. His last pole position was in 2008 and he wants to win again in F1, and will try to do his best with Valtteri Bottas 2nd and Ricciardo 3rd. Only one more minute and the chequered flag will appear at Monaco.
Session finished and Vettel couldn’t beat his teammate. Pole position for Kimi Raikkonen with his teammate Sebastian Vettel 2nd. Valtteri Bottas will start 3rd and the top 10 was completed with Verstappen, Ricciardo, Sainz, Pérez, Grosjean, Button (who has a penalty and will start last) and Vandoorne.
The race tomorrow will have expectation with the comeback that Lewis has to make, with Sebastian trying to beat his teammate. What will happen tomorrow? Everything can happen at Monaco.
