After some free practice that came with wet weather, it was time for the qualifying session at LeMans with MotoGP. Top riders had to make the battle for Q1 and not all of them will reach the top 10 for the race. Wanna know what happened? Keep reading!
Names like Petrucci, Zarco, Iannone, Lorenzo, Folger and Pedrosa had to make the Q1, but only the 2 fastest riders will go to Q2. On their first attempt, Lornezo and Bautista were the fastest riders on track, but everyone was improving their times and Zarco become the fastest rider with 7 minutes to go. Pedrosa also improved and was 2nd, but Dovizioso overtook Pedrosa. Zarco was beating his own time, something like Pedrosa also made, being really close to the Tech3 rider’s time. Aleix crashed on the last moment of the qualifying while Pedrosa become the pole rider on Q1. With the chequered flag Dovizioso improved and become the fastest rider on track with Johann Zarco 2nd. The grid was completed with Pedrosa, Bautista, Folger, Lorenzo, Iannone, Aleix, Petrucci, Barbera, Lowes, Rabat and Guintoli.
Time to get serious with the Q2, and the first one who crashed was Marquez, being his second crash of the day for him while Viñales and Pol Espargaró were the fastest riders on their first attempt on track. Baz surprised everyone being on first row at his second lap, but Pole and Miller improved, something that also Crutchlow made, being in provisional pole, with Dovizioso and Redding behind him. The LCR rider was improving in every lap, now with Marquez behind him at the timetable. Rossi also appeared being the second fastest rider on track with just 6 minutes to go. Zarco who was making the qualifying at his home race become second with a close time to Crutchlow.
After the last changes on their bikes, Viñales become the provisional pole man and while Rossi was using the references of Miller, the australian and also Redding crashed, but Valentino become second. The spaniard of Yamaha improved his time just before reaching the chequered flag.
Pole position for Maverick Viñales who will be with Valentino Rossi and Johann Zarco on first row. The rest of Q2 was completed with Crutchlow, Marquez, Dovizioso, Redding, Pol Espargaro, Abraham, Smith, Miller and Baz.
Tomorrow the equal level of the riders will probably bring us an awesome race, maybe we can have a change at the championship standings if Rossi doesn’t win the race, but everything can happen at LeMans. Stay tuned for more updates.
