Before the start of the qualifying Ferrari had to change the engine of the car and could hit the track at the start of Q1, but the team told him to go to boxes, but he could fix the problems and the german driver could make a great lap time. Romain Grosjean spun on his first attempt at the final chicane of the circuit. Williams was one of the teams with problems and with the chequered flag, Lewis Hamilton finished on top and at the knockout zone we had Ericsson, Palmer, Stroll, Vandoorne and Kvyat.
Second round of qualifying with Sebastian Vettel this time without problems on his Ferrari and making a close time between he Mercedes boys. The surprise was to see Fernando Alonso on 10th position having a abttle for Q3 for the first time this season. Chequered flag and again Hamilton took the best time of the session with Magnussen, Sainz, Hulkenberg, Grosjean and Wehrlein at the knockout zone.
Final battle for the qualifying with the Q3. On first attempt Mercedes was on top with Hamilton again on first position with Bottas on 2nd position with a mistake. Both Ferrari were behind them but they were close, behind the red cars, we had the Red Bull cars. Time for the last changes on their cars and make their last lap. Vettel made his lap faster than Bottas and the surprise was that behind the top 3 teams we had Fernando Alonso with his McLaren, ahead of both Force India and Massa.
