On the first qualifying session we had again Jorge Lorenzo who still haven’t find the correct pace with his Ducati, but we had so many favorites for the first two positions for the end of the session. Aleix Espargaro had problems the whole weekend and he crashed on turn 1 at the start of the session. The other Espargaro brother also crashed, this time on turn turn 2. Miller and Lorenzo were the fastest riders during the first part of the qualifying session. On the final seconds Loris Baz was coming really close to Lorenzo’s time, but on the final turn he had to save the crash, so Miller and Lorenzo finished the session as the fastest riders with Petrucci, Baz, Barbera, Rabat, Abraham, Smith, Bautista, Lowes, Pol and Aleix finishing the grid.

Time for the second round of the qualifying and things become serious with the battle between Marquez and Viñales. Viñales had problems because he found his teammate on the long straight and he closed the door so he couldn’t continue improving the time. Miller crashed on the same turn as Pol Espargaró a few minutes ago. Iannone also crashed with his Suzuki. Marquez was the fastest rider on the first try on Austin with an awesome time for the Honda rider, but Viñales wouldn’t let him get the pole.

After the tyre change, it was time to make the final attempt on the track. Viñales had again problems with his teammate on turn 1 this time. Zarco improved on his last lap taking the 3rd position ahead of Dani Pedrosa. Viñales also improved his time, but Marquez was going to improve his time and he made it by only 1 tenth.
