We didn’t knew if it was going to happen, but MotoGP finally came back after a long, long winter and after a long, long wait for the start of the race. Losail International Circuit in Qatar has only less than 10 days of rain during the whole year… And we had all of them this weekend. Before the start of the race rain appeared and the start was delayed nearly an hour before the start of the first race of the season.

The race started with two formation laps and Viñales from the pole position, but the spaniard still has to learn how to start with the Yamaha, because Iannone, Zarco, Marquez and Dovizioso overtook him at the start. The rookie from Tech3 Zarco, not only made a good start, he also overtook Iannone and lead the race on his first MotoGP race.

The rider from Tech3 was leading the race during the first part of the race, while Iannone and Marquez were fighting for the podium, but Dovizioso was ready to join the battle, overtaking both riders without problems thanks to the top speed of his Ducati. Crutchlow had problems during the weekend crashing every day, and today he had two crashes in 5 minutes, making him to retire from the race.

On his way when he was leading the race, Zarco made a mistake and crashed, giving Dovizioso the leadership of the race, but his rivals wouldn’t let him win so easliy and Iannone overtook Marquez and started to chase Dovizioso, but the Suzuki rider also crashed, letting the italian and the spaniard alone… but another rider joined the party, Viñales, who started to go really fast.

The Yamaha rider overtook Marquez and started to chase Dovizioso, overtaking him without problems, but the italian rider always recovered the position thanks to the top speed of his Ducati one lap… and another… and another. 4 times both riders overtook each other.

And what happened to Lorenzo? After making a good start at his debut with Ducati, the spaniard made a mistake and loose most of the positions, making him to make a comeback to reach the top 10. And about Rossi, he was behind the leading group the whole race, overtaking Rossi and staying close to his teammate, just in case both of them would make a mistake and overtake them, but this didn’t happen.

Maverick Viñales achieved the first victory of the season and his first win with Yamaha. Dovizioso and Rossi completed the podium with Marquez, Pedrosa, Aleix, Redding, Miller, Rins and Folger at the top 10.

Next stop of the season will be Argentina in two weeks. The season has just started, but the show is sure with the MotoGP riders.
