F1 – Barcelona preseason – Day 6

The preseason is coming to his end, and we have two more days left. The 6th day of preseason gave us a lot os mistakes from a lot of teams… but Mercedes was not one of them. Check out what happened at Barcelona today with our MiniDrivers.
The day started with some action from the teams, being McLaren the first one to hit the track, they hoped they could continue going forward with the car and they don’t find more problems on their Honda engine. Mercedes was starting to show their power, making Bottas a great 1.21 with a cold track. The morning was going without problems and we saw Massa making the fastest lap, like yesterday, but Mercedes won’t let Williams to stay in first position and Bottas made a better time than Felipe Massa. Ferrari didn’t make so many laps during the morning, it looks like they had some problems with the fluid system but with 30 minutes for the end of the session, the Ferrari driver made a few laps. The morning session finished without problems for the drivers.
Time to start now the afternoon session and Hamilton and Stroll will drive instead of Bottas and Massa. Red Bull confirmed they had to change their engine and that’s why they made a few laps during the morning session. Mercedes with Lewis Hamilton were making small race simulations while Stroll were taking some experience… without hitting the walls. McLaren started the afternoon session with 1.45h of delay, with short stints. Raikkonen caused the first red flag of the session after hitting the wall at turn 3. When the green flag was waving again, most of the teams were on track with different strategies for this final part of the testing. With 20 minutes left to the end of the session Max Verstappen caused a red flag after losing power at the start of the third sector. The session was going forward until 18:05, but just when we had a green flag Ericsson stopped his Sauber, making the end of the session.
Bottas finished on top at the 6th day of preseason with Massa 2nd and Raikkonen 3rd. Red Bull and Force India were the only ones who completed more than 100 laps, but Mercedes with both drivers made close to 150 laps. Awesome work from the guys from the silver arrow. A lot of problems again for McLaren and Renault who still have 2 more days of winter test before the first race of the season. Let’s see if they can improve or they won’t be ready for Melbourne.
