Before starting to talk about the qualifying, we must say that Brendon Hartley will race with Toro Rosso replacing Pierre Gasly who was facing the final round of the Superformula… but he will lose the championship because a typhoon caused the cancellation of the race and he lost the title for just 0.5 points. On the other hand we have a few grid penalties for Verstappen (15 positions), Vandoorne (5), Hartley (25) and Hulkenberg (20). Talking about Hulkenberg, he has a new teammate from this weekend with Carlos Sainz who will start his new life in Renault and Kvyat is back to Formula 1 with Toro Rosso. Now we can start talking about the qualifying session.

Variety of tires choices during the Q1 with Ferrari and Mercedes using the super soft compound while the rest of the grid was with the ultra soft (which has this weekend a pink color due the cancer awarness month). Grosjean almost hit Stroll who went out of the track to avoid the Haas driver, but the french also ran away of the track, and on the other side, Magnussen was under investigation for impeding Perez on his lap. Chequered flag and Lewis Hamilton finished the session on top with Ericsson, Stroll, Hartley, Wehrlein and Magnussen at the knockout zone.

Second round at the Circuit of the Americas and Nico Hulkenberg won’t make a lap due his grid penalty for tomorrow. Lewis Hamilton broke the time with a 1:33.560 lap with the ultrasoft compound. Sebastian Vettel was 8 tenths far of Hamilton’s time. Final lap of Q2 and the battle for the Q3 was really close, any mistake would mean being out of the top 10 battle. Hamilton finished on top improving his time while Massa, Kvyat, Vandoorne, Grosjean and Hulkenberg finished at the knockout zone.

Last qualifying round at United States and we must remember that Verstappen has a 15 position grid penalty. Lewis Hamilton was really strong during the whole weekend, making a 1:33.108, and with 5 tenths of difference his teammate. Kimi improved Vettel’s time while Verstappen and Ricciardo were just behind them.

Final setup for the cars and everyone is out for their final lap of today. Hamilton’s time was almost impossible to beat but Sebastian Vettel will try it. Chequered flag and the drivers crossed the finish line.

Pole position for Lewis Hamilton with Sebastian Vettel in 2nd position and Valtteri Bottas 3rd. The top 10 was completed with Ricciardo, Raikkonen, Verstappen, Ocon, Sainz, Alonso and Perez.

That’s it for now. In a few hours we will continue with the MotoGP race at Phillip Island for the Australian Grand Prix. Stay tuned to know what will happen at the championship.
